The Weekend 10.29-30.11

As a caregiver I actually feel very lucky indeed, and as a prior home health nurse I know just how lucky I am.  Sometimes a caregiver has the responsibility of caring for someone who is thoughtless, spoiled, demanding, inconsiderate.  My wonderful husband, while losing strength and in poor health, is still kind and considerate and tries to be gracious while fighting for each breath he takes.

Together we were able to get him showered and his skin taken care of to avoid skin ulcers.  Even though it took 1 1/2 hrs to get this done and then I had to clean and straighten the area, he remains positive and tries his best to help me.

Saturday evening I did take a couple of hours for myself and attended a geneology lock-in at the Olathe library.  Sunday I wasn't able to get things in order in time to attend church, but later was able to get some laundry done and some ironing, cooked a pork chop and pasta dinner, and I'm looking forward to watching Masterpiece Mystery on PBS.

I'm very tired today but feel I was able to get a lot done so it's a 'good' tired.  The reruns of Murder She Wrote have been on all day; Jessica Fletcher's voice is soothing and the show sounds in the background of my day served to help me stay calm and purposeful.

Holy Father in Heaven, You are the ultimate giver of peace and calm and purpose.  Through You we can find our path and know we are loved.
Please bless my husband, Don, and my family and friends in all their endeavors.
Amen
