It's been 150 years since Kansas was granted statehood. She has been through a lot starting with the many pioneers that settled this territory and then the major battles over slave state or 'free' state and then on to the divisions of agriculture and commerce.
Across our beautiful state there are amazing things to see and do and learn. Our state has an unusual offering of diverse geology, agriculture, climate, landscape and people. Kansas starts out at the eastern border as lush, green, wooded, and very hilly which gradually changes as you move westward.
The rolling hills of the Flint region and the Konza prairie of central Kansas. Here is the location of the tall grass, American buffalo and cattle, and amazing vistas.
The traveller will watch as the surroundings become arid, desert and totally flat.
You can continue on to the barren western border that has amazing rock formations, fossils, and views that don't seem to fit into the Kansas cubby-hole.
All corners of the state of Kansas offer fascinating adventures. Please spend a few weekends exploring our fine state or if you're not luck enough to live here, then get out and see the state where you reside.
