Earth and the Autumn Season

Welcome to Autumn, my favorite time of the year.  I love the colors, the fragrance and clarity in the air, the sound of the leaves in the breeze, the change in our eating habits and so forth.  The air is cooler so when the sun shines on your face you actually feel the contrasting warmth, and for some of us, it's a pleasant change from the heat of the summer sun.  It's harvest time, it starts a wealth of celebrations that blend us all together.

AUTUMN - EARTH

EARTH… physicality, sexuality, materialism, nature…substance.
Those born as Earth Elements have incarnated to deal with their overt physicality. To learn to move above the base level and see the spiritual essence within the physical - to see it within themselves and within Nature, that is the key to an Earth Element’s evolution.

ELEMENTAL - GNOME
An elemental is a mystical creature that is attuned with one of the elements. The gnome is the elemental being associated with Autumn and is the human personification of the Earth Element, although usually smaller in stature. They are diligent workers and are thought to be the guardians of earth’s hidden treasures.

Now, let's not all get in a twist about the fantasy of gnomes, fairies, leprechauns, elves, and so on.  We have had elves in our lives since we were born and heard about Santa and the elves that helped to make our special present each year, or when we lost a tooth and put it under our pillows so the fairy would leave a quarter in it's place.  And, of course, we can't go near the issue of Tinker Bell, and the millions of little girls that follow her antics.

Autumn, as well as Spring, bring in the season of the fantasy little people.
"When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent for abstract, positive thinking." Albert Einstein

I know well that some of my loving family and friends will feel this is contrary to the biblical teachings by which we live, however, I would respond that I believe my appreciation for the riches of my imagination strengthens my spiritual convictions.  We should never take ourselves so seriously that we neglect our inner child, our thirst for escape, our latent need for adventure.

The paint palette that moves across North America during this time of year is warming and chilling at the same time.  The Earth teaches us of color and texture each year as though a new textbook is written.
